Current status: Our investigation has determined that an update to the Microsoft Edge browser introduced a code issue that’s causing Microsoft Edge desktop shortcuts to duplicate when an automated sync with OneDrive for Business occurs, leading to impact. While our investigation is ongoing to identify the specific update containing the code issue, we’ve developed and deployed a fix for the Microsoft Edge browser to prevent further duplications from occurring. We recommend that affected users update to the latest version of Microsoft Edge (version 118 or newer) and then select and delete the duplicate shortcuts to fully remediate the issue. To most efficiently select and delete all duplicate shortcuts, we recommend selecting and deleting the duplicate shortcuts in the Desktop folder within Windows Explorer.
