User impact: Admins may be unable to modify hold policies within eDiscovery (Standard).
Current status: We’ve deployed our fix for the resource contention issue to our internal environment for additional testing and validation before we proceed with a wider deployment to the affected environments. We anticipate that this should begin by our next scheduled communication update and we’ll provide an estimated resolution timeline once available.
Scope of impact: Any admin attempting to modify hold policies may be affected, but only a small number appear to be impacted based on our service telemetry.

Root cause: Hold policy modifications aren’t completing as expected because a component of service infrastructure that’s responsible for such modifications is encountering a transient error due to a resource contention issue.
