Final status: We’ve completed reverting the offending change in all affected environments and confirmed that the impact is remediated.
Scope of impact: Impact was specific to some users who were served through the affected infrastructures.

Root cause: A code change to resolve an unrelated service incident introduced a compatibility issue and was preventing users from utilizing the Classic Search People vertical within SharePoint Online as expected.
Next steps:
– We’re further reviewing the offending code change to understand how it introduced the compatibility issue, and to understand what prevented it from being detected in our update testing and validation procedures, which will allow us to prevent similar issues in future updates.
