Title: Users may experience files and media showing as not supported, when uploading in webparts within SharePoint Online

User impact: Users may experience files and media showing as not supported, when uploading in webparts within SharePoint Online.

More info: Some users may see the following error message: ‘This doesn’t seem like a supported image file. Please select a different image’.

As a workaround, users can ignore the error and proceed with the upload; the error message stating the image doesn’t seem supported is appearing incorrectly.

Current status: We’ve identified that a recent code change meant to optimize the webpart upload process has caused a timing issue that supplies an uploaded files current state before the service is ready to process it, resulting in impact. We’re considering options to remediate impact and hope to have a strategy prepared by our next scheduled update.

Scope of impact: Impact is specific to some users who are served through the affected infrastructure.
