User impact: Users may have been unable to use spell check in the new Microsoft Teams.

More info: To experience full remediation, affected users need to perform the following steps to update their Edge and Teams client before using the feature again.
– Perform an Edge browser update. Note that only 121.0.2277.112 versions or higher qualify.
– Install the Teams client update.
– Restart Teams.

As a workaround, affected users may have been able to use the following steps to clear their cache:
– Close and quit the new Microsoft Teams application
– Delete the folder: %localappdata%\packages\msteams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams
– Start the new Microsoft Teams application

Final status: Our extended monitoring period is complete, and our service telemetry confirms that spell checker is restored for all affected users and impact is remediated.

Scope of impact: Some users attempting to use spell check in the new Microsoft Teams may have been impacted.

Root cause: A recent service update, intended to improve the right click menu for spelling errors to display suggestions relevant to the currently selected language, introduced a code regression that led to impact.

– We’re reviewing our Microsoft Teams service update procedures pertaining to spell check functionality to prevent similar impact in future updates.
