Title: Some users may be unable to access the new Microsoft Teams desktop client
User impact: Users may be unable to access the new Microsoft Teams desktop client.
More info: While we’re focused on remediation, users may still use the Microsoft Teams classic desktop client to retain access to service functionality. Additionally, clearing the cache or restarting the new Microsoft Teams desktop client will mitigate this issue.
Current status: We’ve isolated an incompatible cache value from a previous Microsoft Teams installation that’s preventing a small subset of users from accessing the new Microsoft Teams desktop client. We’ve developed a fix to safely refresh the cache and remove the non-applicable value to remediate the impact. Our internal validations have verified the validity of our fix and we’re preparing the fix for deployment. Our estimated timelines are expecting for our fix deployment to have completed and remediated the impact by Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Scope of impact: This issue may impact a small subset of users that trying access the new Microsoft Teams desktop client.
Root cause: An incompatible cache value from a previous Microsoft Teams installation is copying to the new build version of Microsoft Teams, resulting in impact.
