Title: Users may be unable to access the OneDrive for Business service
User impact: Users may be unable to access the OneDrive for Business service.
More info: As a means to avoid the issue while we resolve the problem, some users have had success changing their DNS address server configuration settings to 8.8.8.8. This can be completed by performing the following steps on a per-user level:
1 – From the Windows Start menu, proceed to “View network connections”
2 – Identify the network connection you’re using, right click and select “Properties”
3 – Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
4 – Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 and select “Properties”.
5 – Select “Use the following DNS server addresses”.
6 – Under “Preferred DNS server” input “8.8.8.8”.
7 – Press the “OK” button.
Current status: We’re continuing to investigate potential sources of impact within our service, and suspect that a recent change to Azure DNS infrastructure could have the potential to be responsible for impact. We’re reviewing this change as we work to formulate next steps to confirm this theory and determine potential remediating actions if confirmed.
Scope of impact: Users attempting to access OneDrive for Business may be impacted.
