Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Communication Compliance – User scoping role-based access control (RBAC)

Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance is introducing User Scoping with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), empowering organizations to delegate management and remediation authority to specific individuals based on regions or organizational units.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 146858

[When this will happen:]

Preview: We will begin rolling out late April 2024 and expect to complete by late May 2024.

[How this will affect your organization:]

This new feature introduces delegate management and remediation authority for different people in different regions or organization units with role-based access control (RBAC) using Microsoft Entra administrative units. For example, German investigators should be able to investigate messages for only German users, and German administrators can only create/manage policies for only German users.

Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance provides the tools to help organizations detect business conduct and regulatory compliance violations (e.g. SEC or FINRA), such as sensitive or confidential information, harassing or threatening language, and sharing of adult content. Built with privacy by design, usernames are pseudonymized by default, role-based access controls are built in, investigators are opted in by an admin, and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.

You can access the Communication Compliance solution in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.

[What you need to do to prepare:]

This rollout will happen automatically with no admin action required. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.
