Title: Users may have been unable to utilize Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management (MDVM) asset list fetch APIs

User impact: Users may have been unable to utilize MDVM asset list and detail fetch APIs in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

Final status: We’ve identified that a recent update, intended to fix an unrelated issue in the Microsoft Defender portal, inadvertently contained a code regression that’s resulted in asset list and detail fetch APIs to not work as expected. We’ve reverted the update and confirmed through service telemetry that impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: Impact may have been specific to any user who was served through the affected infrastructure.

Root cause: A recent update, intended to fix an unrelated issue in the Microsoft Defender portal, inadvertently contained a code regression that’s resulted in asset list and detail fetch APIs to not work as expected.

Next steps:
– We’re reviewing our service update procedures to understand why the code regression was introduced, in order to identify these issues better in testing to help prevent this problem from happening again.
