User impact: Users’ automated retention policy actions intermittently may not apply as expected in multiple Microsoft 365 services.

More info: This issue may intermittently impact the following automated retention policy actions:

– Triggering disposition review at the end of retention period.
– Deletion of content at the end of retention period.
– Automatic application of retention labels in Microsoft Teams, Viva Engage, OneDrive for Business, and SharePoint Online.
– Triggering Power Automate flows at the end of retention period.

Current status: The fix has been validated and we’ve initiated the deployment to the affected service environments. We expect the deployment process will take some time and will provide updates on the deployment timeline when they become available.

Scope of impact: Any user’s automated retention policy actions may intermittently not apply as expected in multiple Microsoft 365 services.

Root cause: A recent update to a component of Microsoft 365 infrastructure responsible for executing automated retention policy actions introduced a code regression that’s leading to impact.
