User impact: Users may have been intermittently unable to access SharePoint Online sites or start some workflows.
More info: Affected users may also have been intermittently unable to access or edit SharePoint Online list items and start workflows in SharePoint Online in the modern experience for lists and libraries. Affected users saw an access denied error or a “Sorry, you don’t have access” message. As the issue was intermittent in nature, retries may have been successful.

Final status: Following our extended service monitoring and additional validations from affected users, we’ve confirmed that impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: The problem may have intermittently impacted any user attempting to access sites, access or edit list items, or start workflows in SharePoint Online in the modern experience for lists and libraries.

Root cause: A recent service build update contained a code change issue that intermittently impacted users accessing sites, accessing or editing list items, and starting workflows in SharePoint Online in the modern experience for lists and libraries.

Next steps:
– We’re further analyzing the offending code change so we can help isolate similar problems during our testing and validation processes and before impact can be produced.
