User impact: Users in Colombia may have been intermittently unable to access, or had delays accessing, Microsoft 365 services.

Final status: We’ve confirmed after monitoring service health that the issue is no longer occurring and service is fully restored.

Scope of impact: This issue could have potentially affected any user based in Colombia who tried to access any Microsoft 365 service.

End time: Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 3:00 PM UTC

Root cause: Portions of our networking infrastructure that handle the traffic relay to the Colombia region were operating under reduced throughput, which resulted in intermittent access issues or delays for users in the region attempting to access Microsoft 365 services.

Next steps:
– We’re reviewing the impacted networking infrastructure in greater detail to fully understand what caused the reduced throughput to occur so we can either reduce down time or avoid impact altogether in the future.
