Microsoft has recently announced the general availability of Microsoft Entra Suite, a comprehensive secure access solution designed to combat digital attacks involving insecure credentials. This suite aims to prevent security breaches by providing secure access to cloud and on-premises apps with least privilege, both inside and outside the corporate perimeter. By unifying network access, identity protection, governance, and verification, Microsoft Entra Suite streamlines onboarding, modernizes remote access, and ensures secure access to apps and resources.
As part of their Secure Future Initiative (SFI) to combat cyberattacks, Microsoft has introduced new security improvements and innovations across Microsoft Entra from July to September 2024. These enhancements are organized by product to help users quickly find relevant updates for their deployment.
Key updates include the introduction of new features like Admin provisioning of FIDO2 security keys, Insider risk condition in Conditional Access, Device-based conditional access to M365/Azure resources on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Attacker in the Middle detection in Identity Protection, and more. Additionally, Microsoft is enhancing security by enforcing multifactor authentication (MFA) for users signing into Azure and Microsoft Entra admin centers in phases, starting from October 15, 2024.
Furthermore, Microsoft is accelerating the deprecation of keychain-backed device identity for Apple devices on the Microsoft Entra ID platform to enhance device security and better protect data. Customers are required to upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft Entra Connect by early April 2025 to avoid service disruptions.
In efforts to enhance security and improve resilience, Microsoft Entra ID is introducing new Certificate Authorities (CAs) for server certificates for the domain login.microsoftonline.com. Customers are advised to trust all Root and Subordinate CAs listed in the Azure Certificate public documentation to ensure uninterrupted and secure service.
Microsoft has also made updates to the free Microsoft Copilot service for users with a Microsoft Entra account to enhance data security, privacy, and compliance. Users can now enjoy enterprise data protection (EDP) and a simplified, ad-free user interface designed for work and education.
