In today’s digital world, keeping sensitive data secure is crucial, especially with the rise of AI technology. However, only 22% of organizations feel very confident in their ability to protect data when using AI. Data security teams have to protect data from various access points as employees work on different devices, browsers, and locations.
Microsoft’s Purview Information Protection invests in comprehensive protections to safeguard data across modern data estates, including those using generative AI. Enhanced labeling and document protections for Office files and PDFs in SharePoint are now available for customers with E5 and SharePoint Advanced Management licenses. This allows site owners to extend sensitivity labels to all documents in a library to protect them if they are downloaded, moved, or copied.
Microsoft Purview also supports auto-labeling for OneDrive and SharePoint, with the capacity to label up to 100k files per day. Additionally, label inheritance for Teams meetings based on file sensitivity is coming soon, ensuring secure collaboration with the appropriate sensitivity level.
The Information Protection SDK is now generally available on all supported Ubuntu LTS versions, expanding support for protected documents in various environments. Features like dynamic watermarking in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint enhance document protections by deterring data sharing beyond authorized users.
