Exciting news! Microsoft Teams and Outlook now have a new unified contacts experience available. This means that users with a Microsoft Enterprise ID can access and manage the same set of contacts in both Teams and Outlook for a better collaboration experience.
The unified contacts experience is now available for all Outlook users as of January 6th, 2025. It will be gradually rolled out to Teams users by April 30th, 2025.
Having a consistent view of all contacts is important for productivity in Teams and Outlook. Currently, contacts created in Teams are not accessible in Outlook and vice versa, causing users to switch contexts and maintain contacts separately.
In response to user feedback, a new unified contacts experience has been introduced. This brings together contacts from both Teams and Outlook, allowing users to work with the same set of contacts across both applications. Contact updates are synchronized across Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft Graph APIs, saving time and effort for users.
All existing Teams and Outlook contacts will be available in the unified experience. Any duplicates will be merged, and conflicts will be clearly marked for review by users.
