What’s New in Microsoft Teams | January 2025

Happy New Year and welcome to 2025! Starting off the year with a bang, Microsoft Teams has introduced a variety of new features to help you save time and enhance communication efficiency.

In the Chat and Collaboration category, a new feature allows for quick hyperlink insertion, making it easier to add links seamlessly into messages. Additionally, users can now forward chat messages containing Loop components, promoting real-time collaboration across different chats and channels. Forwarding messages between channels is now possible as well, simplifying information sharing with team members.

Moving on to Meetings, Webinars, and Town Halls, meeting participants now have the freedom to move between breakout rooms, enhancing event coordination. The calendar experience in Microsoft Teams has been redesigned for reliability and integration with Copilot and Places, bringing new capabilities like calendar sharing, multi-day view, and support for multiple time zones.

For Workplace: Places and Teams Rooms, workplace check-in with workplace presence allows users to connect in-person, while speaker recognition and attribution in BYOD rooms provide new AI capabilities for meeting spaces. Other features include auto-association of BYOD room devices, multiple camera views, custom naming for Teams panels, and usage reports for bookable desks.
