Enhancing Teams video quality with Super Resolution

Enhancing Teams video quality with Super Resolution

Microsoft Teams is constantly improving to provide users with the best virtual communication experience. One of the latest updates is the introduction of Super Resolution (SR) support, which enhances video quality, especially in poor network conditions.

During high-traffic Teams meetings, limited network bandwidth can lead to lower-resolution videos, reducing video quality. Super Resolution for Teams uses AI on Copilot+ PC to enhance video resolution, providing clearer images compared to traditional upscaling methods.

The feature is available for public preview now and will be fully released in March. It is automatically enabled for devices connected to a power supply but can be manually disabled. Currently, it is only available for Teams Windows app on Snapdragon X-based Copilot+ PCs, with plans to expand to other capable devices.

Super Resolution improves video quality by restoring video resolution using AI technology. It is especially effective in scenarios with severely degraded videos due to bandwidth constraints. By leveraging the power of AI, users can experience clearer and more detailed video streams in challenging network conditions.

As Microsoft continues to improve Super Resolution for Teams, the goal is to make it a standard feature across various platforms, ensuring all users can benefit from superior video quality. Stay tuned for further updates and experience the difference with Super Resolution in public preview.
