Title: Anonymous users can’t view or edit Microsoft Whiteboards in Microsoft Teams meetings via all connection methods

User impact: Anonymous users can’t view or edit Microsoft Whiteboards in Microsoft Teams meetings via all connection methods.

More info: Anonymous users can’t view or edit these whiteboards despite admins allowing anonymous users these permissions in the Microsoft Teams admin center.

Current status: We’re continuing to develop and validate our fix to address this issue affecting anonymous users’ access to Microsoft Whiteboards in Microsoft Teams meetings. Once validation is complete, we’ll begin deployment and tentatively expect this will complete and resolve the issue in the second week of October. We’ll provide a more precise estimation once available.

Scope of impact: Any anonymous user attempting to access Microsoft Whiteboards in Microsoft Teams meetings held via any connection method is affected.

Start time: Monday, August 14, 2023, at 12:00 AM UTC

Root cause: Our mitigative efforts to address a different problem pertaining to Microsoft Teams admin center configurations regarding anonymous users’ access privileges led to the temporary suspension of anonymous users’ ability to edit or view whiteboards in Microsoft Teams altogether.
