Current status: Further investigation indicates that the erroneous “cannot create folder” error, instead of stemming from a recent update as we initially suspect, is likely due to a corruption occurring within the process by which users create public folders in the Outlook desktop client. We’re more closely examining the code path leveraged in this functionality so we can pinpoint the cause of the corruption and determine the best course of action to remediate impact.
Scope of impact: Any user served through the affected infrastructure may receive a message stating “cannot create the folder” when creating public folders in the Outlook desktop client.
