Title: A small number of users may be unable to activate the Record or Transcribe features in Microsoft Teams meetings
User impact: Users may be unable to activate the Record or Transcribe features in Microsoft Teams meetings.
More info: As a workaround, affected users can try re-joining the meeting, which may allow them to bypass the issue.
When affected users navigate to “Record and Transcribe” in the meeting options menu, the “Start Recording” and “Start Transcribing” features may be grayed out and can’t be selected.
Impact is limited to a small number of meeting members other than the meeting organizer; where possible, the meeting organizer can activate the Record and Transcribe features to bypass impact.
Current status: While monitoring the progression of our fix, we’ve concluded that its deployment will require more time than originally estimated. Our updated fix deployment timeline now provides that deployment will have completed, and that impact will be remediated by Monday, November 6, 2023.
Scope of impact: A small number of users attempting to record or transcribe a Microsoft Teams meeting other than the meeting organizer may be impacted.
Estimated time to resolve: Our current deployment projections expect for this deployment to have completed by Monday, November 6, 2023.
Root cause: A recent update to the Microsoft Teams infrastructure responsible for facilitating access to the Record and Transcribe features introduced a code issue that prevents the service from identifying users with access to those features, leading to impact.
