Title: Users see blurry videos on Microsoft Teams live events playing pre-recorded videos
User impact: Users see blurry videos on Microsoft Teams live events playing pre-recorded videos.
More info: The issue only occurs when joining Microsoft-hosted Microsoft Teams live events from the “Calendar Peek” view in the Microsoft Teams desktop client.
Current status: We’ve identified that when a user joins the live event using the “Calendar Peek” view in the Microsoft Teams desktop client, data that ensures pre-recorded videos are tagged with values that maintain a high resolution isn’t transmitted as expected. To mitigate the issue, we’ve applied a change that ensures pre-recorded videos for live events maintain a high resolution regardless of the data transmission outcome. We’re preparing our testing environment to simulate a live event and confirm the mitigation works as intended.
Scope of impact: This issue may impact any user attempting to watch Microsoft-hosted Microsoft Teams live events playing pre-recorded videos.
Root cause: When a user joins the live event using the “Calendar Peek” view in the Microsoft Teams desktop client, data that ensures pre-recorded videos are tagged with values that maintain a high resolution isn’t transmitted as expected.
