Title: Users see blurry videos on Microsoft Teams live events playing pre-recorded videos
User impact: Users see blurry videos on Microsoft Teams live events playing pre-recorded videos.
More info: The issue only occurs when joining Microsoft-hosted Microsoft Teams live events from the “Calendar Peek” view in the Microsoft Teams desktop client.
Current status: Our testing session was successful, indicating the issue has been mitigated. We’re continuing to monitor the situation, as the next Microsoft-hosted live event which is open to all users is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12. We’ll monitor the health of the service during this event to confirm performance remains stable and determine if any additional actions are needed. Users attending the event are recommended to join through a direct link via their web browser or through their Outlook calendar instead of using the Microsoft Teams desktop calendar.
Scope of impact: This issue may impact any user attempting to watch Microsoft-hosted Microsoft Teams live events playing pre-recorded videos.
Root cause: When a user joins the live event using the “Calendar Peek” view in the Microsoft Teams desktop client, data that ensures pre-recorded videos are tagged with values that maintain a high resolution isn’t transmitted as expected.
