Title: Users see blurry videos on Microsoft Teams live events playing pre-recorded videos
User impact: Users see blurry videos on Microsoft Teams live events playing pre-recorded videos.
More info: The issue only occurs when joining Microsoft-hosted Microsoft Teams live events from the “Calendar Peek” view in the Microsoft Teams desktop client. Users attending such events are recommended to join through a direct link via their web browser or through their Outlook calendar instead of using the Microsoft Teams desktop calendar.
Current status: While the health of the service during the Microsoft-hosted live event scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2024 continued to hold as expected, we’re assessing if any additional actions are needed to ensure this issue doesn’t reoccur.
Scope of impact: This issue may impact any user attempting to watch Microsoft-hosted Microsoft Teams live events playing pre-recorded videos.
Root cause: When a user joins the live event using the “Calendar Peek” view in the Microsoft Teams desktop client, data that ensures pre-recorded videos are tagged with values that maintain a high resolution isn’t transmitted as expected.
