Title: Users may be unable to see video in the new Microsoft Teams on Windows devices

User impact: Users may be unable to see video in the new Microsoft Teams on Windows devices.

More info: The impact is specific to Windows devices that are running on some Windows versions, such as versions N and KN, where a specific Windows media component (mfplat.dll) isn’t present. Affected users may see no video where the video is supposed to be displayed.

To bypass the issue before the fix is fully deployed, affected users can follow the instructions in this link to install the Media Feature Pack:

Current status: Our fix deployment is ongoing, although at a slower pace than previously expected. While we’re looking into options to potentially improve the saturation of the fix, our current estimation is that the fix deployment, and impact resolution, is now likely for March 27, 2024. We’ll continue monitoring the fix deployment as it continues to ensure this timeline remains viable.

Scope of impact: This event may impact any users who attempt to view video in the new Microsoft Teams.
