Title: Some admins may see missing data for Exchange SIT files in the Microsoft Purview content explorer
User impact: Admins may see missing data for Exchange Sensitive Information Type (SIT) files in the content explorer.
More info: Specifically, admins may see an aggregate count for a SIT type in the content explorer left panel, but matching Exchange files may be missing in the right panel. Additionally, when impacted admins click on Exchange within content explorer and click into a specific user’s mailbox, they may notice a large mismatch between the total SIT count in the left panel against the Exchange files displayed in the right panel, or they may see a message of “No data available”. Furthermore, there is no impact on actual SIT classifications or any other solutions within Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) or Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
Current status: We’ve deployed the fix to our internal environments, and confirmed that it has successfully remediated impact. We’re continuing with the broader deployment of our fix to the remaining impacted environments. In order to ensure the fix remediates impact without causing any adverse impacts, we’re initiating a slow, phased rollout. Due to the projected slow speed of the rollout, we don’t have a timeline for the overall deployment, but will re-assess based on the progress with our next scheduled update.
Scope of impact: Some admins using content explorer in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal to review Exchange files related to SITs may be impacted.
Start time: Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 1:13 PM UTC
Root cause: A configuration issue on a portion of infrastructure is preventing accurate data from populating when some admins view Exchange SIT files in the Microsoft Purview content explorer from the compliance portal.
