Coming soon to Shifts: Create open shifts across locations

Microsoft Teams is introducing an exciting new feature called Open Shifts Across Locations in Shifts for Microsoft Teams, set to be available in public preview soon. This feature aims to revolutionize scheduling for frontline managers and workers, offering enhanced flexibility and efficiency.

For frontline managers, Open Shifts Across Locations allows them to post open shifts across multiple teams and locations, enabling better workforce management, filling last-minute gaps, and ultimately boosting customer satisfaction. By activating the Open Shift Across Locations toggle in the Settings tab, managers can seamlessly offer shifts that employees from other locations can request, ensuring optimal staffing levels at all times. Managers will receive notifications when employees from other locations request shifts, enabling easy approval or declination of requests. Once approved, workers from other locations will be integrated into the schedule as external employees, simplifying cross-location staff tracking.

On the other hand, for frontline workers, this feature offers increased flexibility by enabling them to pick up open shifts at different locations that align with their schedules. Employees can browse open shifts at various sites and submit requests to take up a shift. Upon approval by the respective location’s manager, the shift will be added to their schedule.

This innovative feature is designed to optimize staffing, enhance worker flexibility, and improve overall operational efficiency. To gain early access to this feature, interested users have two options: signing up to try the feature before its official release or joining the Microsoft Teams Public Preview Program. By participating in the public preview program, users can access this feature and other unreleased Teams features.

Exciting times lie ahead as Microsoft Teams prepares to launch the Open Shifts Across Locations feature to public preview. Stay tuned for updates and get ready to experience a new level of scheduling convenience and efficiency in the workplace!
