We are happy to announce that the open shifts across different locations feature in Shifts for Microsoft Teams will soon be available in public preview. This new feature will help frontline managers and workers by providing more flexibility and efficiency in managing staffing and schedules.
For frontline managers, open shifts across locations allow them to offer shifts across multiple teams and locations, helping to balance workforce needs and fill last-minute gaps. By turning on the toggle in the Settings tab, managers can post open shifts that employees from other locations can request, ensuring that their store or site is always fully staffed. Managers will be notified when employees from other locations request shifts and can easily approve or decline requests. Once approved, workers from other locations will appear in the schedule as external employees.
For frontline workers, the feature allows more flexibility in picking up open shifts at different locations that fit their schedules. They can view open shifts at other sites and submit a request to pick up the shift. Once approved by the manager at that location, the shift will appear in their schedule.
To get early access to this feature, you can either sign up to try it before its official release or join the Microsoft Teams public preview program. Sign up links and steps for joining the program can be found in the provided links
