Action required: Azure AD Graph API retirement

APPLICATIONS CANNOT USE AZURE AD GRAPH APIS AFTER FEBRUARY 1, 2025. HERE’S HOW TO EXTEND ACCESS UNTIL JUNE 30, 2025

The Azure AD Graph API service is being retired, impacting both new and existing applications. New applications cannot use Azure AD Graph APIs unless configured for extended access. It is recommended to migrate to Microsoft Graph and limit development using Azure AD Graph APIs.

Key milestones:
– September 1, 2024: No impact for existing apps. New apps must use Microsoft Graph unless configured for extended Azure AD Graph access until June 30, 2025.
– February 1, 2025: Applications cannot access Azure AD Graph APIs unless configured for extended access.
– July 1, 2025: Azure AD Graph is fully retired.

Actions needed:
1. Identify apps using Azure AD Graph APIs in your tenant.
2. Prepare apps for retirement by migrating to Microsoft Graph APIs. For apps in your tenant, contact owners for migration. For service principals of vendor-supplied apps, check with vendors for updates or configure extensions.
3. Optionally, programmatically report on impacted applications using Microsoft Entra Recommendations APIs or Microsoft Graph PowerShell.
