Users can switch to the new Microsoft Teams desktop client to avoid this issue.

Current status: We’ve confirmed additional details about the root cause where a change to the Microsoft Teams service introduced a regression, which resulted in different caches being read from and written to for captions, resulting in impact. While our fix is prepared for deployment, deployments are currently halted due to an unrelated issue. We’re working to confirm a timeline for that issue to determine when this fix may begin deployment.

Scope of impact: Users on the classic Microsoft Teams desktop client who are attempting to turn on captions for Town hall events may be impacted.
